Meet The Staff Picture

I am the second of three children. You know the one in the middle that tends to disappear and no one knows he's there? That would be me. A lot of people would complain about not getting attention, but it was a way for me to stay out of trouble as much as possible and it worked! So no complaints here. I was born in Houston, Texas but was back in Nigeria when I was about 15 months old. So, I was away for a very long time. I am from Benin City, but grew up in Lagos Nigeria.

When you are lucky to be from my tribe, you could end up with a name just like mine - Ehisumwen. I have no English name(s), but I do have a suffix, Jr. And so for the greater part of my life I was called "Junior". And as hard as I tried, it somehow crept back in even in the university where, even though I tried, I got to meet old friends from primary and secondary school who didn't know who "Ehis" was. So even though they learned to call "Ehis" they'd use "Junior" once in a while just for fun.

I have this tendency to just "disappear" and get lost in what I am doing. I'm not sure if that had something to do with my career choice. It would've been very easy for me to be invisible at B2BGateway. It didn't turn out that way, though. I received so much help settling down in RI after my move from Colorado. That is something that I will never forget.

I live in Hope Valley now and hope I don't sound weird when I say I love it here. It is quiet and peaceful. My name is translated - "Destiny leads me". I am pretty sure my destiny led me here.

Pets
I love dogs even though I am terrible at identifying different breeds. Growing up, we had a German Shepherd. He was with us for about eight years before he died. I think if I were to get a pet it would be a German Shepherd too. But I think I'll wait till I own my own place and am terribly old.

Hobbies/Interests
I have quite a few interests. I love to draw and recently got into 3D/Animation. I gained interested while I was in the university and started gathering materials and resources. I'm not quite there yet, but I am slowly getting better. Don't be surprised when you see my name in one of those movie credits one of these days! I love watching football (what you would call soccer here in America). But I'm not a die-hard fan of any team(s) in particular. My support depends on my mood at that moment. Once in a while, I will root for the underdog just because.

I love playing chess. For a while I didn't play because there was no one around to play with. Now I play online with people at different skill levels from all over the world. I tend to challenge players that are more skilled than I am. Once in a while I win and my rating shoots up. Other times I suffer defeat, but my rating doesn't go down by very much.

I also love table tennis. And for those of you that think I am difficult to beat, I have a little secret. I have an old friend back in Nigeria that I would want to beat. No matter how many times I played him it just never happened. So, Charles Enilama, I've got my eyes on you! Karate is also a big part of my life now. It's something I always wanted to do and finally got the opportunity when I moved to Hope Valley. I must say that I was lucky finding the Dojo I train at; I have a Sensei that is passionate about karate and friends at the Dojo that are warm and welcoming. I'm currently ranked "blue/white", but that really doesn't mean much to me. I just go there to have fun and learn, and what's odd is that the more I learn, the more I find out how pointless fighting actually is.

Music
I am more into songs from the 80's. It might be my parents' "fault". I grew up listening to songs by Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson (I know, who doesn't listen to Michael's songs?). My close friends listen to my choice of music and think I must be from another era. But I will generally listen to songs that have meaning. At the very least, if the lyrics of a song don't make any sense to me, I'll move on.

Favorite Food
There're no second thoughts here. It's beans with fried plantain. Bribe me with this, and you'll get whatever you want. Ha!

Approach to work
I have one simple rule: To handle anything that's handed to me as though it were mine. I feel better knowing that whatever I do brings satisfaction to our clients.

Everything I have learned so far has been mixture of tricks I've learned from the programmers I work with. Even while I am training new employees, I am always learning.

I love what I do and am very open-minded. I think because of this I am always able to learn something new. I have also wanted to be part of a company where I am able to give something, no matter how little, to help it grow. I feel I have found that opportunity with B2BGateway.
