MEET THE STAFF - David Ziegler

BACK TO NEWSLETTER

image Hello! My name is David Ziegler. I grew up in the middle of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. No, I am not Amish, however living in that area gave me a great appreciation for farm fresh food and exposure to different cultures. I moved to RI to attend Johnson & Wales University in Providence, to study Hospitality Management, and never left. As our highway signs say when you enter the state: Rhode Island, Discover the Beautiful! it truly is. RI is only 48 miles North to South and 37 Miles East to West but it has over 400 miles of coast line. I currently live in the Hope Valley area which is a unique rural area with a lot of farm land and lots of open nature preserve land to truly enjoy nature. I consider it unique because of the relaxed, laid back people and environment. The town even has an annual fall festival; "Swamp Yankee Days" to celebrate their Swamp Yankee heritage, Yee Ha! RI's location is easily accessible to large cities, being only about an hour from Boston and about 3 hours to NYC. So next time you are in "little Rhody" stop by and say hi, and don't forget to get some Stuffed Quahogs or some clam cakes and Chowda!

Pets
I love animals and am always doing something to help animals in need. In the winter I frequent my local Tractor Supply store to buy big blocks of Salt to place in the wooded area of my property for the deer, and other animals. And yes I am one of those people who stop when a turtle is crossing the road. Did you know that when helping a turtle cross the road you should always, move it in the same direction it is going or it will just turn around to try to cross the road again? I do have pets of my own, I have an 11 year old Dalmatian named Marcus who has a very laid back personality, except when he is chasing squirrels or rabbits. And then there is Gracey... my 3 year old Black Labrador Retriever. She is your typical "crazy" lab, who is not happy unless she is tormenting Marcus, retrieving anything and everything from a ball to a live mouse to a large tree from the woods. They make a great pair and I would not have it any other way. The only thing I have to say is "God Bless the invisible fence", as it gives them about 2 acres of area to run and get their energy out.

Hobbies/Interests
If you ask most people they would probably say I am a quite person, however I do have an adventurous side so my interests span a broad range. I can be content hiking in the woods with my dogs as well as spending a weekend in NYC. As a kid my family spent every weekend in the summer camping, canoeing, or backpacking. Working in the travel industry further enhanced my adventurous side. Some of my best memories of my trips abroad were adventurous; Bungy Jumping at the Kawarau Bridge in Queensland New Zealand, Driving a scooter in Rome Italy, which is not very adventurous until you add in the fact that they drive on the "other" side of the road and one wrong turn took me on the major road that goes around to Colosseum going the wrong way, and a 2 week Jeep safari in Africa. One of my most accomplished adventure would be the charity bike Ride that I participated in in 2000. I participated in the Boston to NYC AIDS ride which was 265 miles in 3 days from Boston, MA to NYC. It was probably one of the toughest things I did, but when anyone asked me would I do it again, my answer is YES. Today my adventures are more like weekend getaways to NYC and Long Island with my dogs. And for my non-adventurous side I enjoy cooking, baking and just being outdoors and enjoying the Beauty of the area I live in.

Approach to Work
For the past 9 years working for B2BGateway I always strived to build a great relationship with every partner I deal with. I am a Trading Partner Liaison for most of the EU and all of the US. I have a love what you do and do what you love attitude towards work, as well as a great sense of humour. Laughter is the best stress reliever. The EDI world is ever changing and that can be challenging. I have always been up for a challenge, so this is perfect for me. I am always looking for innovative ways to help client/partner implementations completed as quick and easy as possible for everyone involved. At the end of the day when it comes to getting clients to production, as they would say here in Hope Valley...Git R Done!
