Bruce Springsteen and the Brothers...

The Brothers blamed Bruce Springsteen for the food fight. The Christian Brothers were the teachers at my high school and in my senior year they allowed us to play music in the cafeteria during lunch. The newly released Bruce Springsteen album, “Born to Run”, was the most popular music at the time (Yes, I am an old guy), and the title track Born to Run, was somewhere around, “…this town rips the bones from your back…”, when it all happened.

The Food fight was epic. Although, I was covered with mashed potatoes and green beans, it didn’t seem to matter, as I was totally caught up in the event. I had a bagged lunch that day, so I was armed with Hostess Cup Cakes and a mackintosh apple which, (if thrown properly), could approach the speed of a split finger fast ball. The event had been planned for some time. We had all talked about it. We had even had a false start one day, but the food fight actually happened on the same day that Bruce Springsteen was piped into the room.

The two events were coincidental, perhaps bad timing on our part, because we lost the privilege of ever again playing music in the cafeteria. Although we knew that the two events were unrelated, the Brothers never understood that a convergence of disassociated events had occurred.

Many people, (like the Brothers) have seen a convergence of events happen, (Ask my wife about B. B. King and the brand new boat anchor), but many never recognize that the two events are unrelated. At B2BGateway we see it happen quite frequently.

So if you run into an EDI issue and think it may be related to your dog chewing through your laptop power cord, give us a call. If the power goes out and you realize that you haven’t been paid by Wal-Mart yet, give us a call. If you are implementing a new ERP system and your microwave stops working, give us a call, (we might not be able to help, but it would be a very interesting call).

Our support engineers will always be there to answer your questions and put your mind at ease. In fact if you haven’t spoken to your support engineer in a while, even if things are running fine, please feel free to give them a call. Our staff tries to make outgoing calls to check in when things are running smoothly, but that is often a hard thing to do.

When you do call, ask the staff about the latest office Wii tournament, the Twitter account for the RI Office Refrigerator or if we allow them to play Bruce Springsteen during the work day.

Until next time,
