New Product Innovation - Seaman Paper Inc., Oz Development and B2BGateway

Anyone in the retail industry can tell you that pulling together all the facets of packing, shipping and EDI can be a daunting, perhaps overwhelming task. When one pictures a typical warehouse scenario, one sees an order coming through via fax, a warehouse employee running over to retrieve it, distributing it amongst the team, gathering the parts, putting them in boxes, calling FedEx or UPS, labeling, loading... Sounds like a very manual process, doesn't it? And that's just the beginning of the story; there is more to consider such as incorporating label information with the Advance Ship Notice and transmitting to the retailer.

Our client Seaman Paper Inc. was looking to automate this process and create a unified approach to warehouse and back-office efficiencies.

Enter B2BGateway and Oz Development...

Since B2BGateway handles the Seaman Paper EDI with BedBath&Beyond, it made sense for us to work with Oz Development for the label and ASN synchronization. The long of the story...B2BGateway takes the BedBath&Beyond purchase order and imports it as a Sales Order in NetSuite. The Oz Development tool 'Ozlink' uses that sales order to create the shipping labels. While this is being done, Ozlink employs a custom record structure to populate item fulfillment records with information from the print batch. B2BGateway then extracts the item fulfillment record and builds the ASN for delivery to BedBath&Beyond. The short of the story...purchase orders, labels and ASN's are all created, imported and extracted without the need for human manual entry of any kind. This cuts down on resources needed for order processing and errors and warehouse labor.

Seaman Paper Inc. presented this challenge to us a short time ago and we were able to implement it in short order. The end result; a happy client, a good partner and a supply chain demand satisfied.
